IPL Photo Rejuvenation in Vancouver
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a non-invasive technology that uses high intensity pulses of light to penetrate the tissue and create heat, targeting the skin imperfection in a controlled manner. The body’s natural process then removes the treated tissue, while collagen and elastic fiber stimulation occurs, resulting in a visible improvement in skin tone and overall appearance.
The Lumenis® Optima™ IPL Photorejuvenation treatment offers visible improvement by reducing blood vessels, unwanted brown spots, rosacea and stimulating the production of new collagen, which helps to reverse the effects of sun-induced aging. The procedure is fast and with no downtime, so you go in and out in a flash!
Why IPL Photorejuvenation?
- Visible improvement for pigmentation, age/sun spots, broken capillaries and overall skin appearance
- A gentle treatment that removes skin imperfections and stimulates collagen and elastic fiber production
- A fast “lunch-time” treatment with no downtime

What should I expect?
When will I see results?
The Lumenis® IPL Photorejuvenation treatment works with your skin to remove your imperfections and stimulate collagen and elastic fiber production over a sequence of treatments. Some skin concerns such as shallow pigmentation and age/ sun spots can be cleared with as few as 1-2 treatments. Typically 2-6 sessions with 2-4 weeks in between are needed to achieve optimal results for most skin concerns.
What can I expect after treatment?
Immediately following treatment, you may experience some redness, depending on your customized treatment settings. The redness will usually disappear within a few hours. In most cases, makeup may be immediately applied, and daily activities can be resumed the very same day. Our Laser Specialist will advise to stay out of direct sun for a few days following the treatment and to apply sunscreen.
FAQs
-
1Is the treatment painful?
You will experience a mild sting or snapping sensation as the gentle pulses of therapeutic light are passed over your skin. The sensation is quite comfortable and easily tolerated. Some of our clients describe it as an elastic band snapping on your skin. Topical anaesthetic creams are not required for IPL but are available for individuals who wish to numb the skin prior to treatment. Your skin may look slightly flushed and feel warm. After the treatment our Laser Specialist will provide you with an ice pack to cool the skin. A soothing post procedure balm and SPF lotion is applied to the skin for sun protection and hydration.

2How long do the results last?
The results achieved from the treatment series can be expected to last for several years with proper homecare and sun protection. IPL photorejuvenation can dramatically reverse and correct many visible signs of aging and sun damage. However, with the passage of time and with environmental exposure, skin ages as we do. The improvement from a series of treatments can be easily maintained with a touch up every 6 months.
