Mommy Makeover Surgeon in Vancouver

Creating and raising a family is full of joy and happiness. However, the process of carrying, delivering, and breastfeeding a child can cause some lasting changes to your body, which, in many cases, despite exercise and a healthy weight, can only be corrected surgically. Each person is an individual, and post-pregnancy changes to the body vary widely between women based on genetics, weight gain, number of pregnancies, breastfeeding, and lifestyle.

The most common areas of concern for women are the abdomen and breasts. A mommy makeover procedure can treat all these problems in a single surgery. Dr. Tregaskiss will work with you to identify the areas that are a concern for you and make a plan for how best to treat those concerns.

Areas Mommy-Makeover focus on

The most common areas of concern for women are the abdomen and breasts. A postpartum mommy makeover procedure can treat all these problems in a single surgery. Dr. Tregaskiss will work with you to identify the areas that are of most concern to you and make a plan for how best to treat this.

Abdomen

The abdomen can have loose baggy skin, separation, and weakness of the stomach muscles, excess fat around the lower abdomen, hips and flanks, stretch marks, and unsightly caesarean section scars. A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) will be able to address these issues with muscle tightening and the removal of excess skin and fat. Stretch marks on the lower abdomen can also be minimized with a tummy tuck.

img

Breast Rejuvenation

The breasts can often seem deflated and lose their projection after having children. A breast lift (mastopexy) can be performed with or without breast augmentation (using implants) to improve the appearance of the breasts and make them feel full and uplifted. For some women with larger breasts that have lost their perkiness, a breast reduction can provide a more elevated and proportional contour.

img

Liposuction

Liposuction to the hips and flanks is often a very useful addition to a tummy-tuck procedure as it helps with contouring the body in areas that the tummy tuck can’t reach to achieve the optimal outcome for you.

img

Other Additions

Other procedures such as scar revision to caesarean-section scars, arm-lift, thigh-lift or liposuction to other areas, such as arms, thighs, bra-line, back, or underneath the chin can also be incorporated if necessary and desired.

Recovery

Full recovery from a Mommy Makeover procedure is typically around 6-12 weeks. Within 3-4 weeks, patients will likely be back to the majority of their activities of daily living. Patients will be able to exercise again around 4-8 weeks, depending on their individual recovery. Recommencing heavy lifting (20kg/45lbs) can take up to 12 weeks in select cases. It will be necessary for a caregiver to be with you and any children in the house for the first week. You will also need to wear a post-surgery pressure garment for 6 weeks post-surgery to achieve the optimal cosmetic outcome. Once the swelling and bruising go down, you won’t believe your results. We’ll take mommy makeover before and after pictures so you can see the full extent of the results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you lose weight after a mommy makeover?

While a mommy makeover can help to remove stubborn fat and excess skin that may be contributing to an increase in weight, it is not a weight loss procedure. It is recommended that you have a mommy makeover done once you are at, and able to maintain your goal weight. Excessive weight gain or weight loss after a mommy makeover can impact the results.

How do you prepare for a mommy makeover?

The best way to prepare for a mommy makeover is by understanding the procedure and recovery. You will need a ride to and from the surgery as you will not be able to drive yourself home. It is recommended that you have a friend or family member stay with you for at least the first night to help you get settled into your recovery. Arranging childcare during this time can also make your recovery more manageable. Any prescription medications should be filled and picked up before surgery, so you don't have to make any additional stops on the way home. Another great way to prepare for a mommy makeover is by prepping meals ahead of time to limit the amount of time spent on your feet.

How long does it take to recover from a mommy makeover?

The recovery time after a mommy makeover will differ depending on the specific combination of procedures you had performed to make up your mommy makeover. On average, you will need about 2-3 weeks off from work for your initial recovery with 4-6 weeks being needed to return to a more normal routine.

What is all included in a Mommy Makeover?

The procedures included in a mommy makeover can be tailored to address your specific concerns. Just because one person has one procedure done, doesn't mean you will have to have it done too. The most common procedures in a mommy makeover include a tummy tuck, breast augmentation, breast lift, liposuction, or breast reduction.

Is a mommy makeover painful?

Dr. Tregaskiss takes great pride in making procedures as comfortable as possible for his clients. He does this by using long-lasting nerve blocks during the procedure in combination with effective, tailored post-operative analgesia. Nonetheless some discomfort following a mommy makeover is to be expected. You will be prescribed pain meds to help manage any discomfort, and by following your post-op instructions your recovery should remain relatively pain-free.

Does a facelift make you look younger?

A facelift procedure makes you look more youthful by tightening the deeper facial tissues (which sag with aging) and trimming away excess skin. It is often accompanied by ancillary procedures like fat grafting to add volume to deflated parts of the face, as well skin rejuvenation procedures like Morpheus and laser treatments to improve the quality of the remaining skin.

How do I prepare for a facelift?

To ensure optimal healing after surgery, getting your body to a healthy state starting six weeks before surgery is essential. Starting at least six weeks before your surgery you should eat healthy, avoid smoking, minimize alcohol intake, stay hydrated, and exercise regularly.

How long after a facelift can I exercise?

You will be able to walk around within hours of completing your procedure, however only very light activity should be undertaken in the first few weeks after a facelift. You can typically resume light exercise four weeks after your facelift surgery, building up to your normal exercise regime/intensity a further 2 weeks after that.

How long does facelift last?

A facelift can typically last ten years. This is because as you continue to age, your face may begin to sag once again.

How painful is a facelift?

There is typically very minimal discomfort after a facelift procedure. Any discomfort you may experience is typically managed with simple analgesic medications given under your doctor’s supervision.

What is best age for facelift?

A facelift is best performed on individuals in their 40s, 50s, and 60s. These ages are when signs of skin aging become more visible.

It involves elevating and tightening the deeper tissues of the face, jawline, and neck, removing excess skin, and repositioning the remaining skin to create a more youthful appearance. Can a facelift be combined with other procedures?

Yes, many patients opt to combine a facelift with other cosmetic procedures such as eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), brow lift, or neck lift for more comprehensive facial rejuvenation. What is the difference between a full facelift and a mini facelift?

A full facelift addresses aging signs in the lower two-thirds of the face and neck, while a mini facelift is a less invasive procedure targeting the lower face and jawline. A mini facelift is suitable for patients with milder signs of aging and typically involves a shorter recovery time. Dr. Tregaskiss can advise on which procedure is best suited to your individual aging concerns.

What should I expect during my facelift consultation?

During your consultation, Dr. Tregaskiss will assess your facial anatomy and skin quality, and discuss your aesthetic goals. He will review your medical history and current health status. This is an opportunity to ask any questions you have about the procedure, recovery, and anticipated results. Dr. Tregaskiss’ comprehensive background in facial surgery allows him to provide in-depth recommendations for your specific needs.

What is a deep plane facelift?

The deep plane facelift, which is Dr. Tregaskiss' technique of choice, is a highly advanced facelift procedure that targets deeper layers of tissue below the skin. Instead of merely tightening the skin, this technique repositions the underlying muscles and fat to achieve more natural, longer-lasting results. The deep plane facelift is particularly effective for addressing sagging in the midface, jawline, and neck, and is known for producing youthful yet natural results with less tension on the skin, which aids in a quicker recovery and more discreet scarring.
