At Pacific Plastic Surgery, Dr. Tregaskiss offers advanced laser skin resurfacing treatments to help patients refresh their appearance and restore confidence. Whether you’re bothered by facial wrinkles, acne scars, sun damage, or uneven skin texture, modern laser technology can safely and effectively rejuvenate the skin.

Why Consider Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Our skin is constantly exposed to various elements, including sun exposure, environmental stressors, and the natural aging process. Over time, this can lead to irregular skin, deep wrinkles, scars, or enlarged oil glands, making you feel less like yourself.

Laser skin resurfacing works by removing the outer layer of damaged skin cells, stimulating collagen production, and allowing healthier new skin to form. Different techniques are available, and each type of laser procedure works by delivering laser energy or short pulsed light energy to the treated area, encouraging the healing process and tightening the underlying skin. Benefits include:

  • Smoother skin texture
  • Fading of acne scars and skin scars
  • Reduction of moderately deep lines and facial wrinkles
  • Treatment of brown skin discoloration or sun damage
  • Stimulation of new collagen fibers to tighten skin

About Vancouver, BC

Located in the heart of Vancouver, our practice serves patients from across British Columbia who are seeking high-quality laser treatment options. Vancouver’s coastal climate and abundant summer sunshine make sun protection factor (SPF) especially important after a laser peel or laser vaporization procedure. Our team will guide on caring for your treated skin and protecting your results with proper sun protection.

What to Expect

Consultation

We’ll review your medical history, examine your treatment area, and discuss whether you’re a good candidate for laser skin resurfacing. Patients with very dark skin or darker skin tones may require specialized approaches, since some ablative lasers can increase the risk of pigmentation changes in dark skin.

Procedure Day

On the day of your laser procedure, a topical numbing cream or local anesthesia may be applied to the treatment area. The laser beam is then directed at the upper layers of the skin, removing only a fraction of the skin layers while preserving the underlying skin.

Recovery

After treatment, the skin heals gradually as new collagen fibers form. The healing process can take several days to weeks, depending on the depth of treatment. You may experience redness, swelling, or mild peeling as new skin replaces the treated area.

Determining Candidacy for Laser Skin Resurfacing

You may be a candidate for laser skin resurfacing if you want to:

  • Treat wrinkles, fine lines, or moderately deep lines
  • Address acne scars, skin scars, or sun damage
  • Improve uneven skin tones or irregular skin
  • Stimulate collagen fibers to rejuvenate and tighten skin

However, not everyone is an ideal candidate; patients with skin cancer, active acne, uncontrolled medical conditions, or very dark skin tones may require alternative treatments. During consultation, Dr. Tregaskiss will evaluate whether a laser approach or another cosmetic procedure is best for you.
